While individuals had represented Go-Kan-Ryu Karate in various Tournaments in South Australia in the late 1980's and early 1990's, it wasn't until 1995 that a Tournament Team was established to represent the Club. Coached by Region 9 Manager, Sensei Craig Pearce, the team had instant success in the National All Styles circuit. The 16 member team picked up 10 firsts, 4 seconds, 1 third and 2 fourth places in their first tournament with 14 members sharing the spoils. In the next tournament, an expanded team of 25 members took out 12 first places, 8 second places and 6 third places. Amongst the wins were 1st places in Male Black Belt Kata and Kumite, Female Open Continuous and Black Belt Kata and some top performances by the Juniors in winning Kata and Kumite events. In the State Championships, Tracy Ellis took out Female Open Black Belt Kata and Kumite, leading a medal haul that brought in 24 trophies. Current Tournament Team member, Jeremy Thompson, (pictured with Lance Young, Sarah Harding & Dave Attenborough) came third in 9 -11 year point sparring. 10 members of the Tournament Team were selected in the NAS State Team, with all GKR Tournament Team members qualifying to compete at the NAS Nationals. However, due to a misunderstanding between Coach Sensei Craig Pearce and the NAS State Director, the GKR competitors were withdrawn and none competed at the NAS Nationals. At the GKR Nationals, Tournament Team members did well. In the 12-13 year 3 Kyu+ Kata, Lance Young came first, with Sarah Harding second. Vanessa van der Hayden came third in Female Colts Kata. In Kumite, the results were even better. Matthew Learmonth won 10-11 year, Lance Young won 12-13 year and Vanessa van der Hayden won Female Colts. Danielle Greenwood and Tracy Ellis both came second and Antonie De Bruin came third in their respective divisions. Pictured here are Team representatives from the Highgate Dojo (Damien Ellis, David Attenborough, Lance Young and Tracy Ellis) with their Trophies. Over the next four years, there was no official GKR representation in N.A.S. Tournaments. However, in 1997, a number of GKR Students were allowed to compete as individuals, not officially representing GKR. There were some very good performances from some of these students, including State Titles, but for the next few years, no GKR representatives, official or unofficial, were allowed to compete. In May 2000, it was announced that once again, there would be a South Australian Tournament Team. Following trials and three months of intense training under State Team Coach, Sensei Craig Pearce, a team of 34 fronted up for the first Tournament. Inexperience in some facets of Tournament Sparring and Forms led to some mixed results but at the end of the day, 26 trophies were won by team members. Round 2 and 3 saw continual improvement from all team members as the experience gained in each successive tournament was shown in the higher successes. A Team of around 20 entered the First GKR World Cup in Sydney in March 2001. While no Team members won a World Title, Anthony D'Alessandro, Katie D'Alessandro and Geoff Foulis all achieved a Second place, with Catherine Wilkinson, John McDonald and the Junior Syncronised Kata Team (Catherine, Katie and Jeremy Thompson) all placed Third. A GKR squad of 26 entered the 2000-2001 State NAS Titles and 22 individual team members gained at least one trophy. Final results saw 9 State Champions, 13 Runner-ups and 6 third places. State Champions were: Catherine Wilkinson, Karim Ghaoui, Melissa Van Der Meer, Jeremy Thompson, Danielle Copini, Boyd Shean, Sharon Taylor and Dual Champion Natasha Stone. 14 members made the trip to the Gold Coast to compete in the NAS Australian Championships. While no one brought home any trophies, there were many good performances and the experience gained, would prove useful next season. In December, 24 members travelled to Sydney for the 2001 GKR Nationals. Everyone tried their best and for Beau Beaumont, it was a double win in the 12-13 year 8-7th kyu division where he became Australasian Champion for Kata and Kumite. Other placing were 3 seconds and 3 thirds. The first event for the 2002 season that the Tournament Team competed in was a big success. The Team numbered 47 members competing and gained 42 placing's, with 17 being for 1st place, 11 seconds and 14 thirds. Many of the newer members of the team had success in their first tournament with a number of clean sweeps. The next round saw a slightly smaller entry of 44 gain the same number of trophies but with 19 first places, 13 seconds and 10 thirds, it was an improved performance. 29 individuals won a trophy at this tournament, a great team effort. A team of 44 competitors, representing GKR, entered the 2002 State NAS Championships. A brilliant effort saw team members gain 20 State Champion Titles. Congratulations to the following Team Members on attaining State Championship Titles: Geoff Foulis, Robin Copini, Sharon Taylor, Craig Johnston, Angela Mason, Jeremy Thompson, Anthony D'Alessandro, Catherine Wilkinson, Stefan Eigenwillig, Danielle Copini, Orddom Leav, James Taylor and to the DUAL CHAMPIONS (Kata & Kumite) Boyd Shean, Amy Lotts, Beau Beaumont and Aaron Edwards. A number of Team members were amongst about 20 SA competitors who went over to Melbourne for the 2002 GKR Australasian Titles. Whilst they performed well, there were only a few minor medals won. A month later, the NAS Australian Championships were also in Melbourne and 25 Tournament Team representatives were in the South Australian NAS Sate Team. Individual successes were limited to Stefan Eigenwillig and Crystal Spencer who both took out third places for Sparring in the respective junior divisions. In Team events, Jeremy Thompson, Boyd Shean and Anthony D'Alessandro were National Champions for Senior Advanced Team Kata. Jeremy combined with Catherine Wilkinson and Katie D'Alessandro in coming second in Junior Synchronised Kata, whilst Jeremy, Boyd Shean, Robin Copini and Chris Williams were members of the Senior Kumite Team that came third. Season 2003 saw a few members retire but with new members and the addition of Sensei James Gray as assistant Coach, the future was looking good. Shihan Stacey Karetsian attend a few training sessions and his input was both valuable and appreciated. A small team of 24 experienced competitors entered the first tournament. From the 20 events contested, 34 placing's were the results - 9 firsts, 14 seconds and 11 thirds. Standout performances came from Crystal Spencer and Ordom Leav who won both kata and kumite in their age groups. A large team of 41 competitors entered Round 2 of the 2003 NAS South Australian Season and what an impact they made. Overall results were 20 firsts, 20 seconds and 16 thirds from 33 different competitors. Once again there were outstanding performance from a number of individuals who won both kata and kumite - Carly Curgenven, Shane Little, Ty Little and Robin Copini. This tournament also saw a great display of team kata with Boyd Shean and Jeremy Thompson stunning the audience with a mirror version of Kata Unsu. Round 3 saw yet another good performance by the GKR SA Tournament Team, with 39 team members achieving a total of 49 placing's, made up of 17 first places, 20 second places and 12 third places. The busiest competitor of the day was Megan Terry, who competed in forms, sparring, continuous and Junior Demonstration, picking up four Trophies along the way. The Junior Demonstration Team of Megan Terry, Catherine Purvis and Hazel Craig, had been working on their Application Display of Kata Empi for several weeks. Their hours of hard practice and their performance on the day was rewarded with a very well received First place. Facing a record entry for a South Australian NAS State Championship, the GKR State Team did the Club proud. In the Black Belt and 4th-BB divisions, GKR competitors dominated, winning an exceptionally high percentage of events competed. We were State Champions in the Open Male Forms and Sparring, Open Female Forms, 16-17 Year Forms and Male Sparring, 15-16 Forms, Male and Female Sparring, 12-13 Forms and Female Sparring, 10-11 Forms and Sparring and Veteran Sparring. There were many Runners up and third placing's as well. In the Novice and Intermediate divisions, there were also winners and many placing's, including Continuous and Demonstrations. Congratulations to all our State Champions - Kara Berriman, Kristie Goznik, Aaron Edwards, Crystal Spencer, Orddom Leav, Hazel Craig, Rebecca Lawless, Anthony D'Alessandro, Stefan Eigenwillig, Catherine Wilkinson, John Horvath, Robin Copini, Leslie McDonald, Boyd Shean, Andrew Harten and to Dual State Champion - Jeremy Thompson. With both GKR and NAS Nationals being held in Sydney a week apart, many members had to make a choice which event to attend. John McDonald was the Tournament Team's only success at the GKR Nationals taking out third place in Senior Veteran Black Belt Kata. However, 20 team members made it to the NAS Nationals and our best efforts as a team were achieved. SA GKR Tournament Team members Robin Copini and Hazel Craig won National Titles while Katie D'Alessandro and Boyd Shean both came third, all for individual Sparring. Katie, Carly Curgenven and Kirsty Kane were members of 3rd placed Sparring teams. Many others made it through several rounds of sparring or finished in the top part of their Forms divisions. Trials for the 2004 Season were held over two weeks in February. Once again, a number of experienced and high performing members decided to take a break from the team this year but the new influx of students ensured that the high standards achieved over the past three seasons by the GKR SA Tournament Team would continue. It was only a small Team of experienced competitors that entered Round 1 at the new Venue of St Clair Recreation Centre. Although small in numbers, the Trophy count was 33. Stand out competitors winning multiple events were Daniel Spencer, Aaron Edwards, Orddom Leav and Catherine Wilkinson. Round 2 saw a vastly larger Team of 40 enter with many newcomers representing the Club for the first time. The Team collected a total of 47 placing's. Multiple First Place Trophy winners were Daniel Spencer, Russell Dimech and Orddom Leav. Many of the new Team members made a successful debut, winning Trophies in their first representative Tournament. Round 3 saw the largest GKR Team for some time and the biggest Trophy haul ever. 45 Team members collected a massive 64 placing's. In all, there were 23 Team members who took home multiple trophies, 14 who took home 1 trophy each and only 8 missed out. Most of these were in large divisions, competing against other Team members, with some of them filling "fourth" places. Highlights were through all divisions, with a number of Team members gaining multiple first places in individual events. Stefan Eiganwillig had three firsts and Geoff Foulis, Orddom Leav and Daniel Spencer each had two. The 2004 State Championships saw a sensational performance by the Team in compiling a record number of State Titles and a record number of placing's. There were 22 State Championships, 19 Runner-ups and 19 third places. As usual the Juniors led the way but there were some excellent performances by the Seniors. Congratulations to our State Champions - Aaron Edwards, Crystal Spencer, Allan Gillert, Stefan Eigenwillig, Hazel Craig, Anthony D'Alessandro, Beau Beaumont, Natasha Hammersley, Michelle Bartlett, Kirsty Kane, Lesley McDonald, Cheryl Beck, Nick Meremelengas, Junior Sync Team (Alan, Orddom and Tom Suljagic) and to Dual State Champions Orddom Leav, Tamas Szabo, Brad Treloar and Daniel Robbins. Eight Tournament Team members were among the 14 strong South Australian representation at the GKR Australasian Championships in Melbourne. There were two South Australian successes. Lesley McDonald won the Female Colt's 3 Kyu and above Kata (Shisochin) and Angel Marsden, daughter of Tournament Team member, Kirsty Kane, came second in the 5-7 year 8-7th Kyu Kumite. Twenty five Tournament Team members and four Officials made the trip to the Gold Coast for the NAS Australian Championships. An outstanding effort by all members saw yet another record set. Team members, either individually or as part of the NAS State Team events, picked up three National Titles, four second places and a third place. As well there were a number of team members who just missed out on places. Congratulations to Stefan Eigenwillig - NAS National Champion for 14-15 year 4th-BB Forms, Tamas Szabo - NAS National Champion for 14-15 year Male 10-4th Kyu Sparring, Catherine Wilkinson - 2nd place 16-17 year Female 3-BB Sparring, Nick Mermelengas - 3rd place Veteran Male Sparring, Catherine Wilkinson, Kirsty Kane, Bronywn Dickinson, Natasha Hamersley and Dragana Calic - 2nd place for Female Senior Advanced Team Sparring, Stefan Eigenwillig - NAS National Champions for Male Senior Advanced Synchronised Forms (with former Team members Boyd Shean and Jeremy Thompson), Bronwyn Dickinson, Natasha Hamersley and Dragana Calic - 2nd place for Female Senior Advanced Synchronised Forms and Alan Gillert, Orddom Leav and Tom Suljagic - 2nd place for Junior Synchronised Forms. Season 2005 saw the usual turnover of Team Members but Team Coach Sensei James Gray was confident that 2005 would be yet another successful year. Round 1 wasn't until early April, so there was plenty of time for team members to prepare. And prepared they were, with 44 trophies won on the day, made up of 15 first places, 16 second places and 13 third places, with most members having some success. Dual winners on the day were Kara Berriman, Sonny Beaumont, Daniel Robins, Natasha Hammersley and Nick Mermelengas. A much larger Team entered Round 2, but with slightly less overall success. Team members won 14 firsts, 18 seconds and 10 thirds for a total of 42 places. However, many of the added competitors were in divisions that already had Team members competing. Once again there were great debut performances from new competitors, whilst established members continued in their winning ways. The only Dual winner was Alan Gillert, but there were many classes where the Forms and Sparring was shared amongst team members. Cooler weather prevailed for Round 3, with 41 places taken out by our representatives. There were 10 Firsts, 14 Seconds and 17 Thirds with several competitors just missing out by fractions in Forms or were unsuccessful in third place. Winners of both Forms and Sparring were Hannah Sprod and Bronwyn Dickinson, but once again there were several divisions where team members shared the places. State Championships saw yet another consistent performance by Team representatives. There were also a number of people who just missed out by the smallest of margins in Forms or lost close bouts in Sparring before the medal rounds. Final count was 11 State Championships, 18 Runners-up and 13 Third places for a total of 42 places. Congratulations to our 2005 State Champions - Angel Marsden, Daniel Spencer, Crystal Spencer, Dragana Calic, Geoff Foulis, Demonstration Team (Kirsty and Lesley) and Dual Champions - Debbie Spence and Kirsty Kane. Only a small group, including Tournament Team Members Chris McDonald, Erik Juhl, Bronwyn Dickinson, Angel Marsten and Kirsty Kane competed in the 3rd GKR World Cup. Angel was the only place getter, coming 2nd for Kata in her division. John McDonald was an accredited photographer at the event and took lots of photos as usual. The NAS Nationals were held on the Gold Coast again this year due to Commonwealth Games venue commitments in Melbourne. A small group of GKR members made up part of the South Australian NAS State Team for the 2005 NAS National Championships. There were some good performances by Team members including 2nd place in Intermediate Sparring by Debbie Spence, 2nd place Male Team Sparring (Erik Juhl & Nick Mermelengas) and 3rd place for Demonstrations (Kirsty Kane and Lesley McDonald). Lesley also made the final of the Female Black Belt Open Forms, but was unplaced. Season 2006 commenced with Tournament Team trials in early February. This year saw the return of a number of experienced competitors to GKR representation and an immediate effect on the team resulted. A small team of 26 entered Round 1 of NAS in early March with 41 places achieved. Dual first place winners in Sparring and Forms were Alan Gillert, Matt Tilmouth and Debbie Spence, with Natasha Hammersley taking out continuous as well to win the Trifecta. A larger team of 33 entered Round 2 but with many of the additional competitors in the same divisions as those who competed in the last round, the actual results were not much different. All up, team members won 18 events, came second in 12 and third in 10 events for a total of 40 places. Standout performances came from Angel Marston, Russell Dimech, Alan Gillert, Debbie Spence and Catherine Wilkinson, each winning both Forms and Sparing in their respective divisions. Ben Juett won Male Open BB Forms after initially tying for first and then winning on his second Form. Team members, Deb Spence and Natasha Hammersley, were the only representatives who competed in the Third WASO World Titles in Queensland in early June. Both had a good Tournament with Deb placing third in Female Advanced Sparring while Natasha finished fourth in Female Advanced Sparring. With several competitors injured or otherwise occupied, it was only a small team of 21 that competed in Round 3. A great effort was achieved by all, with almost every competitor taking home at least one place trophy. All up, team members won 15 events, came second in 14 and third in 9 events for a total of 38 places, only 2 down from the last tournament. Dual winner this tournament were Kara Berriman, Alan Gillert, Kate Jamieson and Kirsty Kane (in Black belt Female Open and Veteran). Craig Spencer won the Male Black Belt Open Sparring for the first time in beating Ben Juett in an all GKR Final. Sunday 15th October was NAS State Championships and the GKR Tournament Team did the Club proud by taking out 18 State Championships. In addition, there were 13 Runners Up and 9 third places, with the highlights being Dual Championships to Russell Dimech, Jenny Miller and Jeremy Thompson, with Kirsty Kane taking out Kata and Kumite in both Open and Veteran divisions. Team members who took out a single State Championship were Debbie Spence, Dragana Calic, Alan Gillert, Kara Berriman, Jason Spiteri and the Demo Team (Deb, Tash, Dragana and Cat). A small team of 15 GKR competitors were part of the South Australian Team at the 2006 NAS Nationals but they certainly made their presence known. Team Members took out 2 National Titles, two Runners-up, three Third places plus three Fourth places plus the Male and Female State Teams came fourth after narrowly losing their semi-final bouts. Our National Champions were Angel Marston who took out Pee Wee Forms and Debbie Spence who won Female Advanced Sparring. Second places were achieved by Kate Jamieson in Female Advanced Sparring and Alan Gillert in 16-17 year Forms. Third places were gained by Jason Spiteri in 8 - 9 year 5th kyu - BB division, Catherine Wilkinson in Female Middle Weight Sparring and Kirsty Kane in Female Veteran Sparring. Alan Gillert, Russell Dimech and the Male and Female Sparring Teams all lost their third place bouts to finish Fourth. Tournament Team members made up about half of the 28 strong South Australian competitors at the GKR Australasian Championships and took out all but one of the places gained by SA competitors. Jason Spiteri won both Kata and Kumite as did Jenny Miller. Russell Dimech and Kirsty Kane both won Kata while the only non Tournament Team National Title was won by Elisa Matthews in Female 3rd - 1st Kyu 21 - 34 division. Second places went to Alan Gillert in Kata and Kumite, Kate Jamieson in Kata, Kirsty in Kumite and the Female Team came second. Erik Juhl came third in Kumite and Fourth in Kata. Angel Marston, Teagan Miller and Cameron Hill all made the final of the Kata in their divisions but had to settle for fourth as did the Male Syncronised Kata. It was one of the most successful years ever for the SA Team at national titles and the continued good form at the State NAS tournaments showed the power and depth of the Team. Season 2007 saw a fundamental change in the structure of the Team, with Robin Copini (Head Coach) and Jeremy Thompson (Assistant) taking charge. A new training regime was established with a heavy concentration on sparring skills. It was a small team of 21 competitors who represented GKR at Round 1 of the 2007 NAS Season. As is policy, only team members from the previous year's squad compete in the first tournament and 19 of the competitors between them won 15 first places, 9 seconds and 8 thirds. The only multiple winner was Jeremy Thompson in Male Open Black Belt but several other people won either Forms or Sparring and placed in the other. A much larger team competed in Round 2, with many of the new representatives making their mark in their first tournament, resulting in 53 Trophies being won. This was made up of 21 first places, 20 seconds and 12 thirds with several others just missing out to finish fourth. Some of the new competitors made an immediate impact, with Jasmine Harford taking Forms and Sparring and Daniel Tregenza with a win and two second places. As in last Tournament, several people had a win and a place in their events. Not quite as successful as Round 2 in regards to places achieved, but overall Round 3 was yet another successful tournament for the Team. The same number of 1st places was won was the same with 21 events taken out. The minor places were slightly down with 17 seconds and 10 thirds. A number of Team members were absent for various reasons so it was a good performance considering. Crystal Spencer was the standout Junior with wins in Female Sparing and Continuous. In Seniors, Daniel Tregenza dominated, taking out Forms and Sparring in both Veteran and Open Black Belt Divisions. As usual, many other competitors won and placed in their events in both Forms and Sparring. A team of 29 competitors represented GKR at the 2007 State Championships and 27 of them gained at least one place in an individual or Team event, with the 2 people who missed out, both taking 2 fourth places each. It was a great achievement by all to take out 17 State Championships, 21 Runners Up and 16 Third places. As well there were 9 fourth places where people were beaten by a small margin in Forms or lost the third place bout. Congratulations to State Champions Jasmine Harford, Jason Spiteri, Tegan Miller, Nik McDonald, Craig Spencer and Michelle Lawrence. Congratulations to Dual Champions Jake Wilson, Crystal Spencer and Alan Gillert and to Triple Champion Jenny Miller. Team events saw wins to Jeremy Thompson and Alan Gillert, Cheryl Beck and Julie Tynan and Russell Dimech, Jason Spiteri and Cameron Hill. Now it was time to train hard for the National Championships in Sydney and the level intensified. The largest ever South Australian representation of 42 competed at this year's GKR Australasian Championships, and 25 Tournament Team members were part of it. It was the most successful Tournament ever for SA, with Six National Titles, three second places, six third places and four fourth places. Congratulations to National Champions Daniel Tregenza, Craig Spencer, Crystal Spencer, Corey Burnside, Jenny Miller and Katie Creaser. The following week was the NAS Nationals and a slightly changed SA Team of 26 competed. Once again it was a fantastic result for the Tournament Team with another best ever performance, with six National Titles, five seconds, five thirds and four fourths. Congratulations to Individual National Champions Jeremy Thompson, Beau Beaumont, Jenny Miller and Alan Gillert and to the Team Event National Champions Alan Gillert, Daniel Tregenza and Jeremy Thompson and Juniors Jason Spiteri, Russell Dimech and Cameron Hill. To crown this achievement, South Australia also won the President's Cup for best performing State. It was a great effort by competitors at both National Tournaments and a well earned reward for the coaches and the team members who worked so hard during the year. After the best ever performances at the 2007 Nationals, Season 2008 looked very promising. With minimal losses from the past years squad but with many additions, the team was stronger than ever. Round 1 saw a big team of 46 competitors take out a record number of 71 places were gained with 34 firsts, 22 seconds and 15 thirds. Top performances on the day came from Lateilia Mobbs, Jalen Croxton, Jasmine Harford, Jason Spiteri, Crystal Spencer, Jackie Probert, Dragana Calic, Daniel Tregenza, Sara Roach and Alan Gillert who all won both kata and kumite for their respective divisions. Round 2 saw a slightly smaller team of 39 competitors take out 24 Firsts, 22 Seconds and 17 Thirds for a total of 63 places. Once again there were standout performances with Lateilia Mobbs, Jalen Croxton, Jackie Probert, Beau Beaumont, Daniel Tregenza and Alan Gillert all winning both Kata and Kumite but there were many others who had a first in one event and second in the other. A great all round effort with many improved performances from the newer competitors. A huge result for the 45 member strong SA Tournament Team at the 2008 NAS State Titles with 33 State Champion Titles, 22 second places, 21 third places for a total of 77 trophy places. These were achieved by 40 different team members so a great overall effort from all competitors. This is by far the best ever performance by the Team. Dual Champions were Jasmine Harford, Tegan Miller, Crystal Spencer, Clayton Downs, Shaun Williams, Jackie Probert, Daniel Tregenza (Veterans) and Dragana Calic. For the first time, the GKR Australian Championships were held in Brisbane, but due to it being held three weeks prior to NAS Nationals on the Gold Coast, only 9 Tournament Team members attended. Daniel Tregenza placed First in Kata and Second in Kumite, with Jasmine Harford taking out Second place for Kata, were the only successes. The largest ever team at a NAS National went to the Gold Coast for the 2008 NAS Nationals but despite some very competitive performances, only produced 2 National Titles. Sean Hutton and the Male Syncronised Forms Team were the winners. Other placings were 5 seconds and 2 thirds. Season 2009 started off promising with a large squad training in preparation for Round 1 of NAS. It was a great start to the year, with 37 competitors out of 40 entered, taking out 68 individual or team events placings, with the 3 competitors missing out on a place, all in Black Belt Open events with large entries. Best performances came from Jordan Haffner, Stephanie Antolis, Corey Burnside and Daniel Andrew, all winning both Forms and Sparring in their respective divisions. A Team of around 30 represented GKR at Round 2 of the 2009 NAS Season and acquitted themselves well. A few people have moved on, a few missed through injury or other reasons and a few old Team members made a return. All in all, a good day by all competing. Team members took out 26 events, with 19 second places and 15 third places, 60 in all. Others just missed out to finish either 4th in Forms or lost third place Sparring bouts. Jordan Haffner and Nik McDonald were the only dual winners. A very successful NAS State Championships for the South Australian Team with many team members picking up 25 individual and two Team State Titles. As well, 22 individual and 1 team places were achieved plus 5 third places. Several team members finished in 4th place in Forms events or lost third place bouts in Sparring. Dual winners were Tamsin Stanton, Corey Burnside, Kate Jamieson, Nik McDonald and John McDonald, Special mention to Jeremy Thompson who won his 4th Male Open Black Belt Sparring title in five years. Around 45 South Australian competitors entered the 5th GKR World Cup, including 30 Tournament Team members. It was a great result for Team members with Corey Burnside, Nik McDonald and Kate Jamieson each winning a World Title. Second places went to Daniel Tregenza and the syncronised kata team of Daniel Tregenza, Alan Gillert and Beau Beaumont, with third places to Daniel Andrew (Kata and Kumite), Corey Burnside, Jackie Probert, Nik McDonald and the syncronised kata team of Jeremy Thompson, Ben Juett and Joe Van Strijp. Ten Team members entered the GKR Australian Championships, with National Titles going to Lateilia Mobbs and Daniel Tregenza. Tegan Miller placed second and Tamsin Stanton took out third place in both Forms and Sparring. A smaller Team of 24 represented South Australia at the 2009 National All Styles Australian Championships but had their best result ever. Eight National Titles, five Runners Up and four Third Places went to the SA GKR team members, beating the previous record set in 2007 in Sydney, both in National Titles and medals won. National Championships went to Corey Burnside (Forms and Sparring), Kate Jamieson, Steve Tyler, Beau Beaumont, Male & Female Syncronised Forms and Female Sparring Team.
