Region 9 Beach Training and December Grading Busy weekend for Region 9 students, with the Christmas Beach Training on Saturday 12th and the final Grading for 2009 on the Sunday. Around 40 Instructors and Students attended the Beach Training at Semaphore South Beach in cool conditions. The session started with a warm up, including a light jog, before strikes and moving through in stance. First Kata followed and then some work on punching combos. They then moved on to kicks and then some leg strengthening in the form of squat hops along the beach before more kicks. After a short break they played some Kids Games, Sharks and Fishes proved most appropriate. The session finished with Kata groups (1st&2nd, Saifa & Bassai, Seiunchin) and the bow out. The Training Session was followed by a BBQ and drinks in the carpark/lawned area. A great day for all attending. Thanks to David Thornton for the photographs. The December Grading was strongly supported with 42 students facing the large grading panel. It was a pretty solid session, designed to test the higher grade students as well as catering for the lower grades. Almost everyone was successful, with David Thornton (Seaton & Allenby Gardens) successfully grading to 3rd Kyu, the highest rank on the day. Congratulations to all. time to speak with your Dojo Sensei to set goals for 2010. |
